Dear Evan Hansen, Anastasia, Spongebob Squarepants, Once On This Island Are More Will Be Featured During The 91St Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
“Dear Evan Hansen,” “Anastasia,” And More Take Part
On Thursday, November 23, 2017, the 91st annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will take place. The parade will commence at 9am, beginning at 77th Street and Central Park West, proceeding down to Columbus Circle, down Central Park South, and then marching down Sixth Avenue to 34th Street, when it will make its final west turn to culminate at 7th Avenue and 34th Street.
Every year, Broadway is an indelible part of the festivities, complete with floats and giant balloons. This year, some new shows and some older shows will take part. This year’s Tony Award winning Best Musical, Dear Evan Hansen, will certainly take part.
Showcasing Hits at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
In addition, the new production of Anastasia will have its moment. Furthermore, the old Nickelodeon favorite SpongeBob SquarePants is now a Broadway musical, which will also have its moment to shine during the Thanksgiving Day Parade. In addition, the upcoming revival of Once on This Island will get a chance to perform a number for all the audience watching both in person and at home on their televisions.
Finally, the show-stopping Radio City Rockettes will be performing their famous high kicks in a special performance in NBC’s broadcast. In addition, CBS’ broadcast will feature performances from Waitress and Come From Away, both musicals from last season that are still going strong.
Broadway Performers Joined By Other Stars
In addition to showcasing New York City’s unparalleled Broadway theatre, the Thanksgiving Day Parade will feature performances from a range of artists.
These include 98 Degrees, Andra Day & Common, Sabrina Carpenter, Kat Graham, Lauren Alaina, Cam, Angelica Hale, Andy Grammer, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots, Sara Evans, Flo Rida, Olivia Holt, Goo Goo Dolls, Nicky Jam, Dustin Lynch, and Wyclef Jean.
Multitude Of Artists And Stars
If that isn’t enough, the Top Chef stars Padma Lakshmi and Tom Colicchio will be joining in the festivities. Furthermore, Tony Award winner Leslie Odom, Jr. from Hamilton, who is now pursuing his solo music career, will make an appearance. The cast and muppets from Sesame Street will also take part, as will Smokey Robinson, Bebe Rexha, Jojo Siwa, and Miss America 2018 Cara Mund.
The parade will be hosted by the Today Show’s Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, and Al Roker. In addition, the parade will be simulcast in Spanish on Telemundo, hosted by Carlos Ponce, Jessica Carrillo, and Karim Mendiburu.
