Kinky Boots Cast Recording Debuted At #1 On Billboard's Top Broadway Chart, Marking The Highest-Charting Cast Recording Since The Book Of Mormon, Featuring Popular Hits From The Show
Kinky Boots Cast Recording Tops Billboard's Broadway Chart
Due to its score by pop legend Cyndi Lauper, Kinky Boots has been one of the most anticipated Broadway cast recordings of the season. The album, released on May 28, went straight to the top of Billboard's Top Broadway Albums chart, debuting at #1. The Kinky Boots cast recording also placed #51 on the Top 200 chart, making it the highest-charting Broadway cast recording since the mega-hit The Book of Mormon.
Released on the Masterworks Broadway label, the Kinky Boots recording has a 15-song track list which includes songs such as "Sex is in the Heel," "The History of Wrong Guys," "Everybody Say Yeah," "The Soul of a Man," and the show's rousing closer, "Raise You Up". Kinky Boots stars Tony Award winner Billy Porter, Stark Sands, and Annaleigh Ashford. The show's music and lyrics are by Tony winner Cyndi Lauper (writing for Broadway for the first time), and the book is by Harvey Fierstein. The album has orchestrations, arrangements, and musical supervision by Stephen Oremus.
