What's Carousel Like?
This revival is produced by one of Broadway’s most reliably excellent producers, Scott Rudin, along with Roy Furman. The cast is unparalleled, starring Jessie Mueller, one of the most exciting young stars on Broadway today, has been nominated for three Tony Awards: Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical for On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, which she won & a nomination for the same award for Waitress. She plays opposite Joshua Henry, who has played Aaron Burr in the touring company of Hamilton, and whose Broadway credits include Shuffle Along, Violet, and Bring It On: The Musical. Renée Fleming also stars, following her debut in Living on Love. Fleming, a globally renowned opera singer and soprano, has received 4 Grammy Awards: for albums "Poèmes", "Verismo", "Bel Canto" & "The Beautiful Voice".

Carousel on Broadway Background
Carousel has an expansive history on Broadway. The show was revived for a brief run in 1949, a summer run in 1954, another brief run in 1957 and then a proper run in 1994 to 1995, the last of which won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. Finally, this beloved show has found its way back to Broadway. The 2018 revival is directed by Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien, who has also helmed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Front Page, It’s Only a Play, Macbeth, The Nance, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and many more.
This production stars Jessie Mueller (Beautiful, Waitress) as Julie Jordan, a mill worker who strikes up a romance with a carousel barker named Billy Bigelow, who in this production is played by Joshua Henry (Shuffle Along, Hamilton). The production also stars Grammy Award winning opera singer Renée Fleming (Living on Love) as Nettie Fowler, Julie’s cousin who houses them during tough times.
