Twas the Night Before is Cirque du Soleil’s 2019 holiday theatrical production based on Clement Clarke Moore’s classic Christmas poem, The Night Before Christmas. Cirque du Soleil is based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and has recently become the largest theatrical producer in the world. Previous Broadway Cirque du Soleil productions include 2016’s Paramour, which follows a magician who loses his love and magic, and 2011’s Zarkana, which was loosely based off of the golden age of Hollywood.

Twas the Night Before is the Canadian entertainment company’s first holiday-themed show since their 2007 show titled Wintuk, which tells the tale of a winter themed city where it never snows. Wintuk also played in the Hulu Theatre at Madison Square Garden. Twas the Night Before had a soft opening in the Chicago Theatre in Chicago, Illinois from November 28 to December 8, 2019, and then transferred to the Hulu Theatre at Madison Square Garden for December 12-29, 2019.

Twas the Night Before is an acrobatic re-envisioning of Clement Clarke Moore’s classic Christmas poem, The Night Before Christmas. The story follows Santa Claus as he makes his way across the world to deliver presents to all the good little children. During his travels, Santa is spotted by a father as he puts his children to bed. The father then watches as Santa slides down the chimney and fills the house with gifts and Christmas spirit and things begin to go awry.
